Kaposi sarcoma. The distinctive features of Kaposi sarcoma along with HIV are the young age of the diseased and its aggressive course. Kaposi sarcoma is one of the first early symptoms or signs of HIV infection for 30% of the diseased, almost all of them (50-90%) having their oral cavity damaged. There appear spots, knots, lumps or chancres, their color varying from red to purple; initially, these lesions are normally flat, red and quiescent, later the diseased tissues darken.
