Herpetic infection (Herpes simplex) The symptoms watched in HIV-infected people suffering from this disease have certain difference from the symptoms watched in immunocompetent people: 1) herpetic fever occurs more often; 2) the form of the herpetic infection is heavier; 3) the disease progression is often not typical. The risk of herpetic fever relapse is increased greatly in case of HIV-infection. Usually a person gets infected with herpetic virus and then with HIV, but the symptoms of herpetic infection are so strong that they may be the first sign of HIV-infection. Genital herpes is an especially often HIV-infection concomitant disease. Genital herpes virus existing in the organism, a person may get infected with HIV easier and the AIDS proceeds in a rather worse case.
